We have three case studies to share on line:
Gatorade: Grow Toy
- Marketing Challenge:
- Agency for Gatorade had a challenge to reach tween athletes with a focus on soccer players - an increasingly popular sport with this target age group.
- Needed to reach target mothers and educate these decision makers and key purchasers on the critical need for hydration when tweens are exercising/playing sports.
- Needed to be integrated with other communication efforts in the works.
- The Idea & Solution:
- A branded direct mail piece with a "grow toy" in the shape of a soccer player that expanded in water. ("kids are like sponges"). When hydrated
they grew and when Dehydrated would shrink - illustrating and reinforcing the brand promise.
- How It Works:
- Over 3 million direct mail pieces were distributed with grow toy. The direct mail piece contained a coupon for in store redemption.
- Was made small enough to mail, but large and sturdy enough to pass government safety tests.
- Results:
- Repeat promotion planned due to high coupon redemption rate and continued brand recognition and reinforcement of brand promise in tangible and relevant way.

Maytag
- Marketing Challenge:
- Maytag was to launch a TV campaign with the animated character "Migelvix" a core branding device and character integral to the brand campaign and the Neptune line of washers and dryers.
- We needed to bring the alien like character to life, capture his mischievous personality, and make him work in store at point of sale.
- The Idea & Solution:
- A playful plush character in 3 dimensional form with bendable arms, legs and antennae with a fun expression; kids and moms both found adorable.
The alien came to life just as the designers wanted and customers loved our character!
- How It Works:
- Migelvix was given away with washer and dryers when purchased - so the brand ID and reinforcement continued in home.
- Migelvix worked as an attention getting device in store in display units and had strong appeal to the family oriented target at retail.
- Results:
- Successful new product introduction and campaign launch! Neptune has continued to maintain leadership position in premium washer/dryer appliance market.
- Migelvix was a success with the agency, the client and the end consumer. Everyone loved Migelvix and he lives on as a successful brand icon brought to life.

Keebler
- Marketing Challenge:
- Keebler had a basic out of date and not terribly brand relevant cookie jar in existence. They needed to bring the highly successful TV brand campaign and it's elements to
life in this in home usage item.
- Over 50% of product market share came from the crackers - but no in home branding device (cracker 'jar') existed to store crackers.
- The Idea & Solution:
- An entire line of cookie jars and a cracker barrel was created to bring the brand elements to life. We updated and reinvigorated the brand and told the nostalgic
Keebler story with great attention to detail.
- The features from the TV animation were duplicated down to how they oven opened and in the facial expression of the characters.
- How It Works:
- An offer to purchase at a discounted price was offered on pack -when cookie jar purchased received a coupon for a free package of cookies or crackers in jar.
- Sold on line, on pack and then due to popularity was offered as a collectible on the Home Shopping Network.
- Results:
- Sold out on HSN. Won number one cookie jar of the year - received more votes than any other in a "rate this jar" internet poll.
- Continued reorders and huge brand reinforcement and recognition in home usage environment.
- They are still in consumers homes reinforcing Keebler brand as a collectible item.
